Text messages presented in court

can text messages from a phone after the police subpena your phone be used as evidence in a court room? can they file other charges against you for what they find in your phone? can people who texted you be charged?

Yes, text messages from the phone may be used as evidence. They must be on the phone, however, as there is no way to reconstruct a text which has been erased. Yes, they can file other charges based on what they find on the phone, under most circumstances (there are exceptions).

Yes, people who texted you can be charged if the text shows evidence of a crime.
