Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Pennsylvania

no ticket, no charge??

I got arrested in PA for DWI and got

caught with drugs. They brought me

to the DUI center and my dad picked

me up and brought me home. We

got a lawyer and was told by the

trooper that he would hear from us

after the holidays and I would have

to turn myself in. But, the trooper

did not give me any tickets. If you

are not given a ticket at the scene,

can they still charge you?

Re: no ticket, no charge??

This is very common outside Philadelphia. Troopers will send you on your way after taking your information and you will get a notice to appear in the mail.

You will have a hearing date set in front of a magistrate at which point bail will be set. For a DUI, as long as you don't have a serious record, you should be released without having to post any cash - just on your promise to show up to court. They will take your photograph and fingerprints and the case will move forward.

Since you already have a lawyer, you are all set and don't need to do anything else except watch the mail.

Good luck.
