Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Pennsylvania

unethical work place safety rules

Is there a law preventing a company from forcing its employees to take off their wedding bands?I've been married for 14 years and have never removed what I consider not just a ring, its part of a vow,a promise to eachother for better or worse till death do us part.Words I feel I hear every day, with just a slight glance downward I can remember every detail of the best day of my life. How is it lawful for a company to say as of Septerber 2002 your not aloud to wear your wedding band because it's a safety hazard.Whats ironic is that there aren't any known accidents in our plant caused by wearing a ring.

You don't describe your occupation, but many businesses have a legitimate reason to ban the wearing of all rings on the job. Around certain machinery, they can be "grabbed" or smashed, causing serious injury to the wearer, the loss of a finger, the loss of a limb, etc. Even if there have been no prior incidents, the company has a legitimate interest in preventing the first if the circumstances are such that the wearing of a ring may put the wearer at risk of physical injury.
