Legal Question in Technology Law in Pennsylvania

Old Web Posting

I posted some bad poetry and a picture of myself on a poetry website about 12 years ago when I first got an account. A few years later, I wanted the poetry and pictures removed, so I emailed the owner, asked him to remove them, and he did so.

Well, today I did a search and just found out that they are all back up, along with my picture. So I emailed the person running the website, and asked him to remove the pictures. He responded in an email that he would remove them for a $5 charge on each one. He clearly put them up again, after I told him to take them down, and now he is keeping them up against my clear wishes. What does the law say on this? What steps can I take to get my image removed, along with bad poetry I do not was ascribed to me?

TIA

Re: Old Web Posting

You asked about removing your content.

Look up the law about digital millenium copyright act. Send a takedown notice (you can find these at chilingeffects.org) and he should take them down pretty quickly. Copyright is not something a small time player wants to screw with.

Regards,

Roger
