What is the current legal decision/action regarding children reciting the pledge of allegiance in schools?

A few years ago the U.S. Supreme Court dismissed a case that raised this issue. The case had been brought by a student's father (her parents were divorced), but it turned out that the mother had custody of the child and was against the lawsuit. The Court held that the father lacked standing to sue on his daughter's behalf and dismissed the case on that basis. There is thus no authoritative ruling on your question.
