Legal Question in Constitutional Law in Pennsylvania

''Original Receipts''

Stores need receipts to return items. Can I scan my receipts and print them instead of keeping all the originals? Is that legal? Thanks!

Good Question. We had an issue with this with a big name store. The store initially refused to accept the scanned item, but when we called corporate and threatened to sue, they took it right away. Legal or not, who knows?

Re: ''Original Receipts''

This is not constitutional law it is contract law. More importantly its whether the store will take a copy. The current technology in copy machines is scan than print so theoretical all you're doing is delaying the printing.

So if they'll take a copy then you can do that.

Some retailers like Home Depot can retrieve some receipts if you provide the receipt number if its a fairly recent sale.

You will usually be fine with a copy. If you are challenged, then an attorney can usually take care of it relatively easily.
