trying three people for one charge

hi i was wondering can three people be tried for the same charge. if one person was convicted and tried for say drugs and they admitted that the drugs were theirs can the police also try two other people with the same drugs.

Scenario: a dad, mom, and son was arrested for drugs that were growing in a house. the son took the charge a pleaded guilty to growning plants in the house then after the son did the time and came home form jail they also tryie the mom for the same drugs. it was a small amount and the mom got off becuase she plead not guilty and won her case then they also are trying to put the dad on trial for the same drugs is this illegal

they can proceed under the charge of conspiracy. If the son was NOT convicted of conspiracy the son can testify that he alone was responsible for the plants.
