auto transmission service
I purchase a vehicle from a private person,in2006.The person sold it as is. But , when he had the transmision service, in july of 2004,the service center put in the wrong transmission fluid,for this vehicle.The vechicle has shifting promblems.I have the service report ,from july 2004. You asked about warranty for a mistake made by a service provider to the previous owner of a vehicle.
Generally a private motor vehicle sale is "as is" meaning that the purchaser takes the vehicle without any warranty. Usually the only exception to this rule would be where the seller knew of s substantial defect or concealed that defect.
So you would generally have no recourse against the seller. Further, since you didn't have the work done by the servicer then you do not have "standing" to make a claim against the servicer.
You could try going to the servicer, with the original receipt. An upstanding company may try to make good on their mistake. But in my opinion, unless their warranty specifically includes your particular circumstances then you would have no recourse.
