Legal Question in Consumer Law in Pennsylvania
I recently purchased an "As-Is" vehicle from a certified used car dealership for $5000. Two days after the date of purchase, I began to have problems with the cars' transmission. I took the car to a reputable repair shop and learned that I would need a new transmission at the cost of $1800. The car salesman told me that since I had not purchased an additional warranty that he is not responsible for any repairs. Do I have a legal case against this car dealer?

You can always sue. I'd ask for a jury trial, and you need to find out what is wrong with the transmission, and what if anything was done to hide the problem. That is the key, did they know of a problem, and hide or refuse to disclose it. If you ask if there are any known problems, and they knew, they can not just ignore your question, and pass off a bad car as a car in good operating condition.
