You asked if you can resell name brand goods where you do not have a relationship with the owner of a trademark.

Yes.

The only caveat is that you remain liable for fraudulent merchandise. In other words, if you buy some knock-off goods then you can be held as contributarily liable for trademark infringement for buying counterfeit goods.
