Legal Question in Consumer Law in Pennsylvania
Signing contract for sale
I need to know if a lein can be put on my house if I stop a contract that I signed for windows in which I know the people are overcharging me. First of all, I went to give the cancellation contract to them. I overheard the sales people talking and I went and told them that I knew they were overcharging me. I am happy with the manufacturer product and can go to another company, but not sure of anyone's quality of work. During this conversation, I told them that I do not need the high quality glass thay get as ''exclusive'' for their company. When I called the manufacturer, they connected me to another contractor as their exclusive dealer. Then they told me they used $17 dollar marine glue to put in the windows. They also told me I needed a custom made front door. Which I don't.
Well, instead of me walking out, I then gave them a check for $2,000.00 in which I just stopped. The agreement on the contract was expire at midnight on 1/18 but the salesman wrote contingent on if I can get financing. Well, stupid me told him financing was not a problem. I ripped up cancellation in front of salesman.
Can they me they will for breach of contract or put a lein on my house? I'm such a stupid idiot.
thanks!

Re: Signing contract for sale
In order for any lien to be placed, the window company would first need to file a lawsuit with the Court, then win, then transfer the award to a judgement....in other words, retain an attorney now, unless you want to pay thousands of dollars later.
