Legal Question in Consumer Law in Pennsylvania

Unbilled Electrical Service

I built a new home and had electrical service connected. I did not receive a bill and contacted the utility multiple times but never received a bill. Multiple years have passed and I want to make a new attempt to right this situation. What is my liability for the service that has been provided.

Re: Unbilled Electrical Service

You asked about your liability for electrical service that has been provided but not billed.

You are correct that this is a situation that must be addressed. There are a number of potential solutions some more appealing than others. I would be happy to speak to you about these.

Generally consumer debts in PA are collectable for 4 years after they have been charged off (or 180 days after the last payment). Theoretically you will owe the service provider the full amount for the electricity used for the period and may be subject to statutory interest. But as I said before, there are solutions that with which I would be happy to help you.
