Legal Question in Consumer Law in Pennsylvania

Web sit estimate

On looking for an estimate to get my whole house carpet cleaned I went to a very reputable company's web site. I typed in all the areas I needed cleaned plus an appointment time and was given a estimate for such services that included a itemized sale price for each service. I also received an email confirming all the services to be perfomed and cost of each including a confirmation Number. They have since called me and said they will not honor the prices given me stating that the prices were not correct on the web site. Can they do this or do they have to honor their estimate? Thanks

Re: Web sit estimate

You can only enforce if a court is willing to call your situation a contract rather than an offer to deal; and even then, it's not clear whether your damages would anything more than the difference between the quoted price and the next lowest offer you can find. Generally it is difficult to show an enforceable contract was found based on an advertising-type situation. However, if you feel they "low-balled" you in an attempt to get your business at a higher price, you can discuss the incident with the PA Consumer Protection Unit:
