Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Pennsylvania
bills
i cosigned for an apartment for someone (no longer a friend) 15 years ago they stayed less then a year and trashed the place. When it first happened i was contacted by the apartment complex about the debt of $3000 for what they did .After some time (months) of blowing them off they said i could pay $2000 to fix this and thats it. so i did. just last week i received a call from a collection agency saying i and/or the persons who lived in the apartment owed over $7000 ($3000 plus $.75 a day). but this is the first ive heard of this since i payed the $2000 15 years ago. i told them this but i was told that they have no record. i dont remember what bank i had back then or if i even used a money order or what. i called the apartment complex the guy who owns it said he will get the file from the collectors and look it up and get back to me.
my question is why did i not here about this til now no bills in the mail, no calls, nothing for 15 years and how can i find out what bank i had that long ago i dont have any paper work from 15 years ago and i cant even guess which bank (if they werent already bought out by another bank)
any help at all will be grateful

Re: bills
It sounds to me like they are long past the statute of limitations to collect on this whether or not you paid anything. That is one of the reasons for a statute of limitations because it is hard to dig up 15 year old records.
