if someone bought you a car and its under your name and 7 months later decides they want it back or the money can they legally do that

Just so I understand - someone bought you a car. The car is under your name totally. Did they pay cash? Is the car financed? Did they keep a lien on the title? If it is liened and you are to pay for it, have you made the payments?
