Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Pennsylvania
Car Repossession
Hi, I hired a contractor (Handyman) to do some work for me. While he was working for me, he used my credit cards and charged over 2000 worth of goods. We signed a contract that I would give him my van cost 3000 and he would pay back the 2200 he used in credit cards. Now the guy has not paid me nor is he working the van and money off as agreed upon. He was also suppose to pay me to keep the insurance up on the van, which he did not. The van is still in my name and i still have insurance on it while he is driving it. My Question is Can I repossess the van since he is not paying for it or the insurance as agreed. We did have a contract that he would pay the insurance on the 15th of every month, i have not gotten one of those payments.

Re: Car Repossession
If the car is titled in your name you are entitled to possess it. His rights to use the van only exist under the contract. While it wouldn't be a good idea to report the van stolen to the police, I don't see how you would have any civil liability for repossessing the van.
