Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Pennsylvania
charge off accountability
My husband had previously lost his job and did not work for some time. We are now seriously in debt trouble, including charge-offs, etc. to our credit. Once these accounts have been charged-off by the creditor, will they continue to take legal action to make us pay these debts? The credit has already been destroyed and need to know if they will still force payment of these debts.

Re: charge off accountability
In a nutshell, yes, some agency will attempt to collect the debt, now or in the future. The original creditor may continue to attempt to collect this debt, or, it may sell the debt to a "debt buyer" or other type of collection agency for a substantial discount who will then attempt to recover the debt from you. For the most part, where there is a valid debt, someone will attempt to collect it.
