You would have to investigate the out of business company. Did they go bankrupt? Were they sold? If so, you would have to contact the successor to the business to pay them and have the udgment marked satisfied. If they were a corporation, you could check with the corporation bureau on-line to find out their present status and the owner of the corporation. If the Judgment holder no longer exists, you might be able to obtain an affidavit from some owner/officer etc. that the company no longer exists. If you can get such documentation, you may be able to file a petition with the court to have the judgment stricken or marked satisfied. Another way to proceed is to file a Petition with the Court to open/strike the judgment. If yuo are able to serve the defunct company's officers or owners, and they don't respond to the Petition, the court should grant the Petition as being uncontested. Of course, all of tis will take time, but in the end, it is worth having this judgment removed from the record.
