Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Pennsylvania
Civil Suit Credit Card Debt
I was served with a civil suit in May of last year for an apparent credit card debt. I have no knowledge of this account. I filed my response to the summons stating I had no knowledge of the debt and I was requesting proof that the debt was mine. I have not received anything from the firm that filed the suit nor did I receive any documentation confirming the debt is mine. Does the suit fall off on its own or do I need to go to the court and ask for it to be removed.

Re: Civil Suit Credit Card Debt
Obviously the Court treated your response as an answer since no judgment was entered against you. Yet. You want to get a local attorney that handles these matters. If the debt really is not yours, you may even be able to recover money from the debt collector and, until that starts happening, these collection companies are going to keep filing these things without checking.
