collection agency filed civil case in another state

i received a notice with a court date to apear in pennsylvania when i currently reside in arizona. a collection agency is filing a claim against me with a district magistrate. i have not lived in pa for a little over a year. the account is also in dispute on my end with credit watch and will be for the next 45 days which falls within the court date.

Probably the best thing to do is to write directly to the Magisterial District Judge and contest personal jurisdiction and the right of the collection agency to file the action rather than the real party in interest along with any other defenses that you have to the claim.

You probably should take a look at the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act at 15 U.S.C. section 1692i if this is a consumer debt.
