Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Pennsylvania

Collection levy

If I have a judgment in my name alone can the collection agency put a levy on a joint account. The credit card debt was only in my name not my wife. It is a unsecured card.

Re: Collection levy

Although the entireties exemption may ultimately protect the account, it could be seized in the meantime and frozen. That, of course, will result in bounced checks, etc.

It may be in your best interest to not have an account with your name on it at all. Also, you may wish to consider a bankruptcy to eliminate this threat altogether.
