Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Pennsylvania

I had a collections account on my credit report. I was disputing it. It has recently disappeared from my Experian report but is still on my Transunion report and the SOL period has not expired. Why did it disappear?

Who knows? Each of the credit bureaus have their own method. They are just conduits for gathering information - they only report what information they are given by a furnisher (the person who extends credit to you or whoever owns the debt).

The fact that the statute of limitation period has not expired is not relevant as to whether a debt can be listed or not. You do not indicate why you are disputing this. Is it your debt or not? If it is your debt, it can be listed on the report for 7 years after the debt was charged off or sent for collection.

If you have rightfully disputed information which is either erroneous OR stale (older than 7 years) and it remains on your report, then your next step under the Fair Credit Reporting Act is to write a letter disputing the information to the creditor or junk debt buyer who has caused the information to appear on your report. Send the letter to them via certified mail.
