Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Pennsylvania

Collections on the Internet?

I am interested to know if there have been any updates to the F.D.C.P.A or any court cases which involve collections over the internet. Our company is considering using e-receipts for their consumer loan payments and we are wondering if we can put a delinquent amount on the email. My concern is that Internet addresses are not the same as a concealed envelope. Can you provide me with any direction on this issue? Thank you.

I am not aware of any updates. The language that you use in your email correspondence should be the same as a regular letter. However, you should in my opinion try to limit correspondence to a written letter unless the email address is completely verified. The matter has to be throughly researched before an answer can be given. Good luck.
