Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Pennsylvania
won't take collections off my report
My sister used my name, etc. to aquire cable services a few years ago which went on my credit report. I personally went to the exact location and proved to them that it was her and not me. They assured me the matter would be handled and my credit would no longer be affected. Then, about a year later, I called the company(main number) and told them it wasn't off. Again, they assured me it would be taken care of and that it was indeed her name on their records, not mine. Now, four years have passed and it's still on my report! I had the credit beureau check into it and of course that didn't help either. I'm not certain if I can find the items I used to prove it at the time, but, I have lived inn the same place since before this account was opened by my sister, what should I do? Thank you for your time, please respond at your earliest opportunity.

Re: won't take collections off my report
You need to send a letter to the credit bureau stating that you do not owe this debt. You need to send a letter to the cable company stating that you will retain counsel to pursue a defamation of character case if they in any way assert that you owe this debt to the credit bureaus. If polite letters won't work you may need to retain counsel to resolve this matter. I offer free consultations.
