I have a court order in PA stating that I need to pay $100 per month on a credit card that I stopped paying on. I have been paying for approxiamtely 6 months now. If I decide to move to another state can this PA court order be enforced in another state?

Yes, the creditor can take the judgment to a court in the other state and have it enforced there.

The other attorneys are correct insofar as it relates to judgments. Judgments can be transferred. There are laws concerning the registration and enforcement of out-of-state judgments and in most cases they can be enforced if the judgments were properly entered and registered.

However, I have never seen an order directing that one party must pay on a credit card debt. Was this part of a divorce action? In divorce cases, I have seen orders providing that one spouse must pay on the credit card debt. If that is the case, then you need to keep paying because you will be in violation of the court order and you will be subject to the contempt powers of the court if you stop.
