Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Pennsylvania

my cousin stole from me

My cousin borrowed over 130k from me and two business partners. he told us that he was investing the money, but it turns out he lost it all gambling. what can we do? if we sue him and recieve a judgement against him, can he just turn around and file bankruptcy? if so, can we file criminal charges and try to get him jail time?

Re: my cousin stole from me

You asked about collecting money.

This a complex question and the answer depends on the specifics of the case and the people involved. You should definitely speak with a lawyer to see what type of case you have. I can envision some arguments for every type of scheme. There are some circumstances where you will recover and others where you recover nothing.

Contact a lawyer and plan on spending some money to get you money back. It sounds like it will be interesting to work on. By the by, do not consider pressing charges until you've spoken with an attorney.

Regards,

Roger
