Re: credit card collections

This is not enough information to provide a good answer. Generally the statute of limitations for contracts in PA is 4 years, however there are other factors which can affect this time period. Were you sued on this debt? Did they obtain a judgment?

When you say "fixed" income do you mean public assistance, SSI, etc?

Please contact me if you would like to discuss the matter further.

Thanks.

Re: credit card collections

If the debt is over 6 years old, DOCUMENT who you are talking to, dispute the dent and tell them (on the phone THEN IN WRITING), to send you proof of the claimed obligsation, with all calculations for penalties and interest, or to never call you again. Save the information and a copy of the letter. If they pop up agin, sue for violation of the Fair Debt Practivces Collection Act (FDPCA). They often won;t call, but you get a call from another collection company. Since that is the case, send a copy of your letter to the original creditor, and be sure to advise the original creditor and the collection agency that if you get a call on it again, you will sue them and snyone else who calls you, and let a judge figure out who is violating the laws.
