Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Pennsylvania
If a credit card company is threatening me can I sue them for that?
1 Answer from Attorneys
It really depends upon what kinds of "threats" are being made, and how you have suffered as a result (if anything, other than minor annoyance).
There is a ton of material online about the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, and you can read the entire statute here: http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf. A good first stop would be the Federal Trade Commission's website.
Pennsylvania also has its own state statute as well, and you can find it here: http://www.attorneysforconsumers.com/Pennsylvania-Fair-Debt-Collection-Practices-Act.html.
Hopefully these links can lead to the information that answers your question. Best of luck to you.
