Are the children of deceasedparentrequired to pay credit card companies for owed debts.

NO, unless they cosigned the credit card application. However to the extent there are funds the estate of the deceased is liable for the outstanding debts.

It is very important that no one uses the credit card after the date of death. I've seen that done on occasion and it can create a real mess.
