Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Pennsylvania

Credit Card Debt

My husband has a line of credit maxed out, and two credit cards maxed out. He has never told me about them. I found out on my own. He makes no payments on any of them. When they call the house he tells me it was a telemarketer. All these cards/credit is in his name only. If we divorce am I repsonsible for these? And at what point will the creditors either put a lein on our house or come and take our cars? He has made no attempt to pay them in over a year. Thank you!

Re: Credit Card Debt

The only way there is a credit card in your name if you authorized it. You husband may have forged your name. You credit would be destroyed. I suggesst you hire an attorney as soon as possible. Gerald Hershenson

Re: Credit Card Debt

Many times creditors will accept significantly reduced amounts to clear bad debt off their books. I highly recommend that you speak with an attorney to discuss how you may be able to get rid of these debts befor they sue and obtain judgement which would act as a lien against your home. I offre free consultations.
