2 years ago my mother and i took her cat to the vet he said the procedure would cost $800.00 during the procedure the cat died and the vet charged $2800.00 we tried to take the vet to court but couldnt afford an attorney I offered to pay $10.00 a month to credit card all i could afford they refused to accept it and turned it over to a collection lawyer firm who called my house 10 times a day for a year and even gave out detailed information to others whose name wasn't on the card now i just recieved a card with my name and one for my mom who doesnt live at my house saying we have certified mail at district court i know this is about the credit card what should we do at this point we live in pennsylvania? what are the laws in pa in regards to if they get a judgement against us i am married and so is my mother we have no way of paying this i have a child with autism and my mother is on disability

The best idea is to pick up the registered mail addressed to you and call the District Court and tell them you intend to defend. Then go and defend the suit. The collection firm is subject to all defenses that you had against the original creditor.
