Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Pennsylvania

Credit Card Debt

I am being sued for past credit card debts. Can my wife be held responsible for a judgment issued against me. She was not on the cards. We have no house, She has a car, 2 joint accounts and she has 1 by herself. We are retired and receive social secruity.

Re: Credit Card Debt

Although joint assets held for the entire marriage are protected against the creditors of just one spouse, they can initially seize bank accounts and schedule sales. The burden is on you to defend and object.

An easier route would be a Chapter 7 bankruptcy which would simply eliminate the debt entirely. You should speak with counsel right away to protect assets.
