Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Pennsylvania

credit card fraud/statement of responsibility

After discovering credit card fraud on many personal credit cards, which were used for an upstart company, my ex-son-in-law signed a Statement of Responsibility, stating he would be responsible to repay the debt accrued on all cards from one bank. With his signature and SS # on that Statement of Responsibility, does that absolve me from the amount of debt he agreed to repay?

Re: credit card fraud/statement of responsibility

I think the only way that you would be fully off the hook would be if your ex son-in-law was found guilty of using the cards without your permission. However, the credit card companies are probably willing to accept his promise to pay and to clear your credit record simply because they are probably making as much in interest as they are getting repaid.
