Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Pennsylvania

Credit debt collection

Hello, my name is--name removed--when I was 15 I received a credit card from capital one with my social security number but a different birthday that made my age over 18 well I was of course unable to pay the bill so a balance of 700 was left unpaid finally it was later settled. With that same credit card I got a cell phone using a different age but charging it to the capital one card I was also unable to pay the cell phone bill which now has an outstanding balance. I wanted to know am I obligated to pay the outstanding balance for the phone bill or am I exempt sense I was under 18 when the charges occurred because I want to dispute the entries on my credit report on the bases that I was under the age when it happend. I am now 18 my birthday is July 18, 1989 and I'm going to be enrolling and college soon and I fear these

entries on my credit report will affect my ability to get financial aid privately through credit. I no longer own the phone or have the card. The charges occurred while living in PA I now live in New York. Please Help, I am worried. Thank You.

Re: Credit debt collection

I don't think you should worry about it. It was a contract you entered into as a minor which is considered voidable. You should probably get a cop of your credit report and contest the charges to clear your credit report.
