Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Pennsylvania

credit report for deceased mother

Mother passed away 08/07/2005. I have a creditor that will not give me proof that my mother had a credit card debt. They want over $1500.00 Question is: Can I get my mother's credit report to research this myself. This creditor is threatening to take me to court. All I want is proof. Don't have money for legal fees.

Re: credit report for deceased mother

Unless you guaranteed payment of the credit card, you are not responsible for any charges made on the card. You mother can not be sued and there is no basis for suing you. The man you are speaking with is bluffing in my opinion. Tell him to stop calling you or you will consult an attorney to see if there are violations of the Federal Debt and Practices Act. I assumed that your mother died with little or no assets in answering this question.
