debt of deceased parent

Can my father be held responsible for credit cards my mother had in her name only? We are getting letters asking us to settle.

Re: debt of deceased parent

No. Just tell them she died, he was not liable for her account, and to NEVER call/write again, and if they do, they are in violation of the FDCPA, and if it EVER shows up on his credit report, he will sue for defamation of credit. Also tell them that now that they know it is a disputed claim, if they have anyone else try to collect on a debt he does not owe, that that is also a violation of the FDCPA, and he will report them to every possible agency.

MOST collectors (not all) are SCUM.
