Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Pennsylvania

Too much debt, can't pay

Too much debt on credit cards. What happens if I don't pay.

The credit cards are in my name only. Home is in both names. I do not own car, wife does. I have pension/social security monthly income but will never cover the debt with interest payment etc.

The only way to clear is to eliminate at least half of the creditors. What can they do to me if I can not make the payments?

Thanks,

Ken

Re: Too much debt, can't pay

Pensions and social security are exempt from debt collection. Additionally in PA wages cannot be garnished to collect this tyope of debt. They could get a judgement and try to force a sherriff's sale of your personal property. However, since you are married most of the property would clearly be marital property and not executable.
