How to force a defendant to pay.

A moving company ''Cadden's Moving and Storage'' damaged the railings inside the house. 'Peaceful' negotiations went nowhere and a civil case was opened in a Magistrate. The defendant did not come to the hearing and the default judgment in the amount of $1741.50 was entered for me. The defendant did not either appeal, nor responded.

What can I do to get the money?

You must file a request for execution in the Magistrate's office against the party who lost. A constable will levy on personal belongings. There are other means of enforcing the Judgment but I suggest you seek advice of legal counsel. Unless you take steps to enforce the Judgment you will not collect. Gerald Hershenson 215-579-9390

Need more facts. It looks like you moved from PA to NY. You sued a PA moving company, and you sued them in a PA court. If this is the case, I would go with Mr. Hershenson's response.
