Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Pennsylvania

Harrassing calls

I thought if you told debt collectors not to call you at work or home they couldn't. I have told this one guy that I am absolutly not allowed to recieve calls at work and he still calls. I have also told him that I have been paying large monthy payments and he said that untill it was paid in full he was going to keep calling me. How can I make him stop?

Re: Harrassing calls

If a debt collector continues to call you at work after you told him that your employer disapproves of such phone calls, then he may be in violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

Also, if you write a letter to the debt collector asking him to stop contacting you, then he must stop. Of course, he can still sue you for the underlying debt.

If you believe that a debt collector has violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, then you can report the incident to the State Attorney General and/or the Federal Trade Commission.

Re: Harrassing calls

This may be a violation of the Fair Credit Collection Act. You should talk to an attorney familiar with the law on this subject to see if you might have a valid claim. There is a possibility that you may sue them to recover some money as a result of the violations. If you wish, please email me or call me to discuss. I would be willing to handle this matter for you in your county.
