Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Pennsylvania
Harrassing collectors
I have had credit debt for about 1 1/2 yrs(since sent to collections). I tried to settle this dispute prior to the non-payment. They have tried to contact me numerous times and i have blown them off. They also found my parents and called them to get info on me??? I just got a call where the women harrassed me...made me extremly agitated and shaking. She proceeded to try the guilt factor and asked many personnel questions which i told her was none of her business..like how i should work more to pay them...she suggested a fast food job and was extremely rude...i told her never to call again and hung up. Can they continue to call after i asked them not to? Also as this is my debt prior to my marriage can my husband be accountable at all? Thank you very much..

Re: Harrassing collectors
From what you describe there are possible violations by the collection agency of the Fair Credit Collection Act. You could possibly take action against them.
How much do you owe? What is the name of the collection agency? Email me if you'd like to continue the conversation and explore possible actions against the collection agency.
