Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Pennsylvania
Identity Theft?
My wife & I have 2 grandchildren (now 10 & 12) Our deadbeat ex D.I.L. has moved them to 4 different school districts, 5 times (districts 1,2,3,4 & now back to district 1) She has moved about a dozen times since 12 yr old has started K'garten. She can't pay rent/utilities & moves. When 12 yr old was 6 or 7, [we discovered that] she put his name on utilities that are still unpaid & in his name. Is this ID Theft? Anything we can do to make sure this doesn't affect credit score, ability to get loans at bank, etc when he's an adult? Kids have recently been taken away from her. Thank you for opinion.

Re: Identity Theft?
Contracts entered into by a minor for necessities may be enforceable but it sounds to me like these will probably not be. If they do show up on his credit record it should be easy enough to correct when he is old enough that he has to worry about a credit report.
