Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Pennsylvania

judgement on credit card

I have a judgement on me from a civil court for a credit card debt.

I have been threatened to sheriff sell personal possessions and put a lien on my property. What are my rights

Re: judgement on credit card

If it is a judgment then there already is a lien on your property. A judgment is a judicial lien. When you are served with a Writ of Execution, it will list your exemptions. You have the right to claim such exemptions. You may also file a bankruptcy petition if you qualify.

Re: judgement on credit card

If you own no assets, there will be nothing for the creditor to get. However, in that situation you are well advised to seriously consider a bankruptcy. A successful bankruptcy will eliminate the debt and avoid the possibility of attaching a bank account or a sale of assets. You should speak to an attorney ASAP.
