judment on me by c card company

a c.card company from many years ago is suing me for 3,000 dollars say they are going to put a judgement against me. i dont own anything but a wreck of a car. have many doctor and prescribton bill and have to live with a friend.what should i do cant afford a lawyer or pay too much have no relatives to help. also does it mean when a judgement is put against me. can the garnish my wages?/

Your best bet if you can't afford a lawyer is to contact the company with an offer that you are able to pay, and see if they will accept it. They may be blowing smoke in threatening to obtain a judgement as you have no assets they can seize. If they sue you you may want to appear and defend the claim and force them to present evidence that the debt is owed by you. Wages can only be garnished in Pennsylvania for taxes, child support, alimony and unpaid rent.
