Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Pennsylvania

Left out in the cold

From 1999-2002 I had been supporting another adult with whom I had lived. He claimed to be a student at a local college, however he never went to school. He did work for about a year, however was fired. He wasn't able to hold a job, so for the most part, my paycheck, which wasn't very much, had to pay all bills, rent, utilities, etc.. In december 2002 he moved to California permanently and has taken not a single cent of responsibility for past due bills. He is now making almost $10,000 more per year than I, and I'm stuck in well over $12,000 in debt, and obviously I'm not making ends meet. I have debt collectors calling me every day, and frankly I'm trying to find a way to get compensation from him. Is there anything I can do?

Re: Left out in the cold

I suggest you seek legal counsel. You may have a right of recovery from the other party depending upon your agreement. If there was an agreement to share in the bills, then you have a potential claim. You would have to file a law suit to collect. There may be some attorneys who would handle this on a contingent fee basis. If I can be of any assistence, please let me know. Gerald Hershenson 215-579-9390
