Liable for 4 wheeler

My son bought a 4 wheeler, his girlfriend co signed for it. He recently passed away. Is his girlfriend still liable?

You asked about liability for a loan.

My condolences on the loss of your son.

As to the loan, yes, the co-signer is still liable on the loan. She was actually the primary responsibility on the loan while your son was alive. The four wheeler is and was her property until the loan is paid off.

If she doesn't wish to keep the four wheeler her best bet is to either have the machine voluntarily repossessed or sell the machine outright and pay off the loan. In either case, if there i a deficiency the girlfreind will be responsible for the difference.
