I live in PA I am getting remarried will my new spouse be responsible for debt prior to our marriage?

No. He is not responsible for your debts incurred before marriage and you are not responsible for his debts incurred before marriage. If either of you have substantial debts, you may want to consider filing for bankruptcy though before you marry and start acquiring joint assets together.

Further, while there is no responsibility by one spouse for the other's debts, the spouse with debt has to be careful about acquiring any assets with the debts going unresolved as creditors may be able to sue. If the creditors can still sue and can get a judgment, then they can enforce that judgment and anything jointly titled may be at risk at some point. I would come up with a game plan to resolve the debt (either by paying, settling or discharging in bankruptcy) before you marry.
