Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Pennsylvania

Medical Debt Dispute On Credit Report

I have been disputing a medical debt for 5 1/2 years with the original creditor as well as the collection agency. The collection agency has it listed on my credit report and it is not masked and you can tell exactly what I had done because it lists the original creditor's name.I have disputed it several times but shouldn't the dispute be listed in the status section of my report, instead its listed in the consumer statement section as ''Account information disputed by consumer(meets FCRA)''?I never requested that statement be added to my report, can the CA just do that?Isn't the CA supposed to list the status of the debt as disputed(in the status section)?I have already paid the OC more than the ins. co. said I had to pay and they stated there were charges the ins. co. wouldn't cover, which I proved them wrong.I even filed a complaint with the AG, because I felt they probably ripped off a lot of consumers with this nonsense and the AG didn't seem to care to even investigate, they just gave me info to sue them. I even revoked their HIPAA authorization 2 years ago, so I would think they can't release my info to anyone even a CA and since its out of SOL I would think they're dead in the water. Can't I C&D the OC and be done with this?

Re: Medical Debt Dispute On Credit Report

Right now there isn't a lot of control over collection agencies and because the amounts are generally so small it is not worth any type of civil litigation. I think what you may want to do is contact the Federal Trade Commission and file a Complaint against the original creditor and the collection agency:
