Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Pennsylvania
Can my mother find a truck driving job with 3 felonies?
My mother was recently charged with 3 felonies (1-''Theft by Device'' and 2 ''Identy Theft'' charges). She is half way through a program to get her CDL to drive trucks...will she be able to get a job with these charges freshly on her record? What can she do when filling out applications so that she's not discriminated against? Does she have a chance?

Re: Can my mother find a truck driving job with 3 felonies?
You asked about driving trucks with a record of felonies.
I am not aware of any general obstruction to obtaining a CDL due to criminal activity unrelated to vehicle operation. Rather I see the problem being that it will be almost impossible for a driver to obtain bonding or any type of clearance with recent convictions involving moral turpitude.
Certain jobs are prohibited as a matter of law, such as driving school buses or armored vehicles. Others are prohibited by regulation such as driving certain types of hazardous or valuable articles.
Yet even more types of jobs will be limited by company policy. It is perfectly legal for an employer to discriminate against a person for a record of criminal convictions.
As to what type of jobs to pursue she should speak with a counselor involved with transition and rehabilitation. Probation officers are supposed to assist with work but most are too overworked to perform this function.
