Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Pennsylvania

PA Statute of Limitations, etc.

I have a charged off credit card that I have been receiving collection notices for. I see that the statute of limitations in PA is 4 years. Last week I received a letter from the credit card company offering to put my charged off balance on a new credit card & pay the balance down & they would show my charge off as paid on my bureau. If I don't agree to this, can I get this wiped off my record? It's been about 4 years since I stopped paying on that credit card - if that debt is past the statute of limitations, how will I know for sure & what are the guidlines? What steps should I take to get it removed from my credit?

Find out when you last made a payment. If it's past 4 years, then there isn't anything they can do to collect it...UNLESS, you acknowledged the debt in your phone call with them. In other words, if you admitted that it was your debt, then the 4 years started over.
