Parents debts or law suits

My mother is deceased and my father is confined to a nursing home under constant care for a stroke. My brother is the power of attorney. We have to sell his home to meet the debts of nursing care. Have just been notified of pending law suits against my dad from past damage his trees inflicted on neighbors prpperty. Are the siblings in any way liable and can the home still be sold under these pending lawsuits ??What is the best course of action? Thank you

The best course of action is to discuss this matter with an attorney. The estate may be responsibility for the debt incurred, it depends on what type of action the neighbor has filed.
